Hello Fulford Families,
We understand your concerns regarding the Covid-19 virus. At Fulford Academy, we want to assure you that the health of your child is our top priority.
In order to continue providing a safe environment for your child to learn in, we are following the Ministry of Education’s direction and closing our main school building from March 23-April 5. While the risk of contracting Covid-19 in Brockville remains low, this proactive measure will help our students stay healthy.
Our dorm will remain open for our international students. There will be 24-hour supervision, meals, and a schedule of internal events for students to enjoy. We are also going to limit their time in the greater community.
Any student that is traveling on March break will be asked not to return to Fulford Academy until April 5. At which time our standard protocols as per the Health Unit will go into effect.
Classes will resume, online, on Monday, March 23. Our curriculum content can be delivered through our online classroom platform and students will be expected to continue their learning. Teachers will be available during regular class time to field questions and assist students as needed.
Our Health Unit continues to work with partners at the regional, provincial, and federal levels to monitor the situation, and is prepared to respond to any potential cases should they occur. In consultation with Health Officials, we have implemented several procedures to ensure the dorm remains clean:
- Sanitizing all common areas, including classrooms, multiple times a day
- Encouraging frequent hand washing
- Use of hand sanitizer each time students and staff enter the dining hall
- Use of hand sanitizer on each floor of the dorm for students and staff to use
- Our Public Health nurse has been in twice to discuss preventable measures students and staff can take to remain healthy
We will continue to monitor this rapidly changing global situation. We will adjust our protocols and procedures as we learn more information. On a personal note, I would like to take a moment to thank all of our staff, students, partners and families for their continued support as we take these precautions. Your trust, patience and commitment to Fulford Academy is sincerely valued. As always, the safety and health of our students is our top priority. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Scott Murray
