The Fulford Academy cross-country team had our first meet this past Friday at the Hornet’s Nest Athletic Facility in Gloucester, Ontario. The XCookie meet was hosted by Louis Riel High School from Ottawa, Ontario. The course consisted of grass fields and some wooded trails. For a late summer day, the weather was beautiful. It was warm and sunny, creating a challenge for the athletes as they tried to stay cool in preparation for their races. The Intermediate boys, Steve, Rafael, Diego H and Tima, all ran their 3km in respectable times getting their first taste of Canadian cross country racing. The High school boys, Yoshi, Atsushi, Jerry S, Jerry L, Leo and Mike Y, met the challenge of running 5km in the scorching heat as a team. They finished with commendable times in a very fast race. All the coaches are proud of the performances in our first meet. The whole team is working hard and looking forward to showing off their skills in Brockville at the TISS Pirates Invitational Cross-Country meet to be held at Memorial Park on Friday September, 29th.
