Class of 2020 Graduates

Each year at our year-end graduation ceremony, Fulford Academy recognizes students who exemplify what it means to be a Fulford Academy student through school, house and recognition awards. This year, that celebration looked a little different but our 2020 Virtual Awards Ceremony was one to be remembered! We would like to thank our Alumni who took part in announcing the award winners via video, they did an excellent job! In case you missed our celebration day, we’ve put together a recap video as well as the announcements of the award winners below.  Congratulations to our Class of 2020 – you have so much to be proud of. 

School Awards:

The Fulford Cup is awarded to the student that best exemplifies what a successful Fulford Academy student is. This student has dedicated their lives to being excellent in their studies, to being the best residential student and friend that they can be, to being a leader, and to improving their English Language abilities. The winner of the 2019-2020 Fulford Cup is Rebecca Long. 

The Kendall Cup is presented to the student who has shown consistent leadership and house spirit in residential life. The recipient should be one who was willing to take charge of a situation and show others how to accomplish the task at hand; someone who participates in all aspects of Fulford Academy living; who has enthusiasm for the experiences of Fulford community living; and has contributed greatly to the residential spirit of the school. The winners of the 2019-2020 Kendall Cup are Mone Tsruoka and Ahmad Ismail Abderrezaq! 

The Williams Award at Fulford Academy is presented to the student who through all aspects of their life at the Academy best demonstrates the values of integrity, fairness and respect. The recipient is the student who most values and consistently shows respect for the Academy community. The recipient will also be seen as fair and honest in their dealings with their peers and the staff, and must demonstrate great integrity in their decisions and in their school life. The winner of the 2019-2020 Williams Award is Mone Tsuroka. Congratulations Mone! 

The Armstrong Award is awarded to the student who has shown the largest amount of growth over the course of the school year. This student has improved in all aspects of their life while attending Fulford Academy. They have improved in their language ability, they have improved in their Academics, and they have grown and matured as a friend and as a peer. The winner of the 2019-2020 Armstrong Award is Emre Uzunlar. Congratulations Emre! 

The Faculty Award at Fulford Academy is presented to the student who has shown the greatest enthusiasm and ongoing commitment towards their academic studies while at Fulford Academy. The award goes to the student who is always eager and ready to learn, who has shown improvement in the knowledge and use of the English language, and who has put forth a great effort to learn English. The winner of the 2019-2020 Faculty Award is Leo Pan. Congratulations Leo!

The Student Award is presented to a Fulford Academy student through a vote of their peers. The student receiving this award has been an exceptional all-around student and is seen by their peers as a person that has been supportive of others throughout their stay, has shown leadership and has gone out of their way to make others feel welcome at Fulford Academy. The winner of the 2019-2020 Student Award is Aidan Burkholder. Congratulations Aidan! 

Community involvement in school and the broader community is an integral part of Fulford Academy. Fulford Academy strives to provide students with valuable volunteering learning experiences to help develop students into active citizens. Having active community members is vital to the success of any city or town. Therefore it is important to recognize the Fulford student with the largest contribution to our community through volunteerism. The winner of the 2019-2020 Volunteer Award is Kirk Mao. Congratulations and great work Kirk! 

The Governor General’s Award is awarded to the student with the highest overall academic average. The 2019-2020 recipient of the Governor General’s Award is Rebecca Long. Congratulations Rebecca! 

House Awards:

Presented by Head of House, Mrs. Murray, the winner of the 2019-2020 Williams House Award is Furkan Dogan! Congratulations Furkan! 

Presented by Head of House, Mrs. Ballantyne, the winner of the 2019-2020 Green House Award is Emilia Benoit! Congratulations Emilia! 

Presented by Head of House, Mr. Day, the winner of the 2019-2020 Clarence House Award is Ines Castro! Congratulations Ines! 

Presented by Head of House, Ms. Edgley, and her daughter, Riley, the winner of the 2019-2020 Fraser House Award is Mone Tsuroka! Congratulations Mone! 

Presented by Head of House, Mrs. MacMillan, the winner of the 2019-2020 Jones House Award is Alexia Morales Tress! Congratulations Alexia! 

Presented by Head of House, Mr. Ryan, the winner of the 2019-2020 Beatty House Award is Aidan Burkholder! Congratulations Aidan! 

Each year Fulford Academy recognizes the student who earned the most amount of positive points throughout the year. The recipient of the 2019-2020 Most Positive Points Award is Delaram Akhavan Karazian. Congratulations Delaram! 

We also recognize the students who made it through the entire year without receiving any negative points. This year, 4 students earn that recognition! Congrats to Kirk Mao, Eliauk Long, David Song, and Minseo Kang! 

Our final recognition of 2019/20 goes out to the students who had the most volunteer hours. We’re so proud of the commitment our students have to our community & they deserve a special shout-out! Congratulations to Kirk Mao, Ela Ince, Logan Harkness, Alice Tomescu, Shun Temmo, Mone Tsuroka! Thanks for your effort this year!
