Mental Illness Awareness Week seeks to spread awareness about mental illness. This day aims to educate the public and remove any stigma surrounding mental illness. It also aims to provide support for those living with mental illness.

Mental Illness Awareness Week was established in 1992 by the Canadian Psychiatric Association. It is observed annually during the first full week in October.
