Fulford Academy has a guidance department that provides support for students when completing the post-secondary application process.
During their senior years of high school Fulford Academy provides opportunities for students to participate in post-secondary presentations and school visits from institutions across Ontario.
Fulford grads have a 100% acceptance rate to post-seconday institutions domestically and internationally.
As a STEM+A school, Fulford Academy takes an integrated approach to learning which involves a cross-curricular connection between two or more standards from Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and the Arts to be taught AND assessed in and through each other. The primary focus of STEM + A is inquiry, differentiated instruction and assessment, collaboration, and project-based learning. Providing students with real-world issues and problems helps students make sense of their learning and allows them to apply what they have learned in different contexts.
Classes begin at 9 AM each day and conclude at 3:30 PM each school day. High school students typically have two classes in the morning, followed by lunch and two additional classes in the afternoon. From Monday to Thursday, a study hall period takes place after the last class of the day until 5 :00 PM. During study hall students have an opportunity to work on homework, seek help from their teachers and collaborate with classmates.
Parents are encouraged to connect with their child’s teachers directly through email or when necessary, by phone. All courses at Fulford Academy are delivered through Google Classroom and parents can be given access to their child’s course if requested.
For academic support, students can utilize the study hall period to seek support from their teachers. When a student requires further support, or perhaps one-to-one tutoring, Fulford Academy can provide these services at an additional cost.
Fulford Academy recognizes that mental health is just as important as student academic success. This is why Fulford Academy runs an advisor program for each student on campus. Each student is assigned an advisor who is a member of the school staff and they meet with their advisor at minimum, one time per week. The advisor is someone the student can look to for advice, guidance and simply a sound-board when needed. Students are also welcome to refer to our Guidance department for support as well.
We have a rolling admission process but encourage everyone to apply 2-4 months before the program starts to have enough time to apply for a visa/ study permit if needed and prepare for the departure.
The admission team would be delighted to arrange a campus tour. The tours can be arranged Monday-Friday from 10:00 – 16:00. A campus tour normally takes 1 hour. Please contact admissions@fulfordacademy.com to arrange your campus visit.
