Head of School, Mr. Scott Murray

Hello Fulford families,

As we enter the month of June we are creeping ever closer to the end of what has been a memorable school year to say the least. I am profoundly proud of the students and the staff at Fulford Academy for their commitment to learning and to making the absolute best of a situation that they have zero control over.

Some good news that we should all be excited about is that by the end of the school year, all the staff and students who are looking to get vaccinated will have done so. We are now at a point where we can stop hoping for a safer and more normal future but are now being assured of it. I will be incredibly happy to SEE smiling faces again this Fall in the hallways and online.

We can’t forget that we are getting ready for our summer semester. We have many students starting our newly evolved dual diploma program, as well as a good number of students looking to take extra credits in extra small classes. There are still spaces available if any students are looking to keep learning over the summer, though, we do encourage everyone to take some time and relax after another difficult year.

Lastly, I want to address our graduates. Once again, we have an exemplary class of graduates who will be going off to Universities and Colleges around the world starting in the Fall. Add to these students, all the graduates from last year who were unable to travel, and Fulford will have a particularly good University presence this Fall. Please remember just how proud of all of you that we are and that, no matter where you are, we are here to support you. Stay tuned for final updates on graduation, and lord willing, this Fall, we can do a Fulford homecoming. It will be great to see everyone as soon as we can.

Thank you all, for your hard work over the school year, and please stay safe!

Please, all, stay safe, stay positive, stay connected.

A RECAP FROM

Dean of Students, Mr. Devin Payne

Students have continued to show their perseverance through the month of May, as it was another month of lockdown. We continue to be grateful to the students, for their flexibility and maturity to deal with what has arguably been the most difficult year of the lives of many. As we are moving into the last month of the school year, I want to make sure all students know the end is near! I am very proud of how they have dealt with the difficulties of this year. As we move towards graduation I just want to tell all students, “Keep up the great work!”.

Later this month the Admissions team will be reaching out to all of our families with the 2021-2022 enrolment package. This will provide you with details about the upcoming school year, including our 2021-2022 calendar and enrolment forms that need to be reviewed, signed, and returned to admissions@fulfordacademy.com.

GUIDANCE UPDATE

Celebrating our Graduating Class!

With the school year drawing to a close our graduating students have been making some decisions about their plans for the fall. At this time Ontario Universities are planning to be in person in September, and some of our graduates plan to take the next steps towards post-secondary education.

Our graduates received a combined total of 55 offers from, 25 different schools in Canada, US, and Internationally. With scholarship offers totalling $150,000.

Currently, all of our graduating students have formally accepted offers and will be heading off to University of Ottawa, Dalhousie University, University of Toronto, MacEwan University, Carleton University, Bishop’s University, Canadian University of Dubai, McMaster University, Queen’s University, University of Guelph, and Algonquin College in the fall.

June 1st marked the deadline for university acceptances as senior students will need to confirm or decline their offers for Fall 2021.

RESIDENTIAL/STUDENT LIFE

Looking Forward to Summer!

Over the past month the residential team has put together many crafts that relate to the time of year and festivities. We are currently celebrating the end of the school year, and the approach of summer. The residential team has been brainstorming and has offered more personalized experiences for our students. Lately our students have been visiting the local market, going on hikes, bike rides and playing games in the local community.

Unfortunately we haven’t been able to celebrate with our local students, but our boarding students and residential team worked together and hosted their own “Fancy Friday” where students dressed up and took pictures to commemorate the year.

With the end of the semester fast approaching, students are starting to make their way home. To everyone who has departed, we wish you luck with all your future endeavours. Those of us who remain at the academy will be finishing up our final assignments and packing for summer vacation.

This has been a challenging year, but we would once again like to thank everyone for entrusting us with the care of our students. We will continue to do our best and provide the utmost care for years to come.
