Fulford Academy’s High School Program is for students who require individual attention in a small classroom environment to earn Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits towards their high school graduation. Our High School Program is an ideal program for students who succeed in a challenging academic environment. The Fulford Academy curriculum follows the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education of Ontario. Students choose courses that are suited to their strengths, interests, and goals.

In order to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), a student must earn a minimum of 30 credits, including 18 compulsory credits and 12 optional credits. Students must also complete 40 hours of community involvement activities and must pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, or successfully complete the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OLC4O).

Our high school students not only earn credits towards their OSSD, but they study in a technologically advanced, service-oriented, enriched program that prepares them for excellence in post-secondary studies.

The University Prep program is specifically designed for students who have just graduated from high school but need further academic language preparation to be competitive in an English first language institution.

Students in this program acquire strong skills in vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, listening, writing and pronunciation, through studies centered on math, science, social studies and English literature.

Students enrolled in this intensive language program follow the same daily schedule as our Academic Program students, with classes starting at 9:00am and ending at 4:30pm. Our students receive an additional 1.5 hours of supervised study hall (homework period) in the evenings, Sunday to Thursday.

Our ESL Prep Program is an intensive English immersion program that is taught using grade appropriate Ontario curriculum content. This is a transitional program for English as a Second Language (ESL) students whose English is not yet sufficient to engage successfully in the Ontario Curriculum.

This program goes beyond a functional English syllabus to address the full scope of classroom contexts and learning processes. Our program prepares students linguistically, academically, and culturally to progress into Fulford Academy’s full Ontario curriculum.

Our ESL students study age-appropriate material, including selected expectations from the Ontario curriculum as a medium for developing their language and learning skills.

While students in our ESL program do not follow the full Ontario curriculum, they are generally enrolled in one ESL English credit.
