To finish off their focus on learning the sport of Golf in Phys. Ed class, Mr. Day and Ms. Edgley took their grade 9 and 11 classes to Sunnidell Golf Course for a round of Foot Golf! Never heard of Foot Golf before? You’re not alone, but it proved to be a very fun experience!
The classes had spent most of a week in September learning some basic golf skills in the Fulford back yard (read more on this here). To avoid losing several golf balls by playing a round of golf, the teachers found another option for the students to get a feel of what a real golf course is like – and so, they played a round of foot golf. Sunnidell is the first course in Eastern Ontario to introduce this sport that is played in 24 countries worldwide. This unique blend of soccer and golf involves playing with a soccer ball! The basic idea is that you kick a soccer ball along the course and there is a bigger hole that is more appropriate for a soccer ball off to the side of the green. It was a challenging course and made for an exciting afternoon. The students were divided into foursomes, just like a regular round of golf, and it was a great way to do something different and learn about the etiquette of the game of golf.

The holes for foot golf are much larger than your typical hole in golf – look at the size of it!
The students had a great opportunity to learn a new sport, enjoy our fantastic Canadian fall weather and get some exercise all at once!
