Welcome to Fulford Academy Summer Camp 2018!
Summer Camp is well underway and all of our campers are settling in nicely for an eventful 3 week program!
After orientation and having some time to get to know each other, we kicked off the Camp with a chance to get to know Downtown Brockville...so obviously the first place the students visited for a quick refreshment was Tim Horton's 🙂
One of Brockville's newest attractions is the Railway Tunnel - the first railway tunnel in Canada which was finished in 1860, was restored and reopened in March of 2018. This cultural attraction has been receiving many accolades since is reopening and is attracting visitors from all over. Our students walked from Tim Horton's, all the way through this amazing tunnel to the waterfront of Historic Downtown Brockville. With a trip around Blockhouse Island to see the Tall Ships and take a breather on the enormous adirondack chairs overlooking the St. Lawrence River, our campers had the perfect day to get to know their new surroundings.
The first weekend of Camp involved some major excitement as Campers toured to La Ronde Amusement Park in Montreal, QC. A rush in adrenaline was definitely felt when taking the opportunity to jump on the thrilling roller coaster rides! The weather in Brockville this summer has been HOT, so a jump in the St. Lawrence River was just what was needed to cool down on a relaxing Sunday at St. Lawrence Beach.
Since the weekend, several campers displayed their courageousness when Little Ray's Reptiles took over the Great Hall on Tuesday morning! From tortoises to pythons, these kids had an up-close-and-personal visit with these reptiles and while there were some campers who kept their distance, others allowed them to perch on their heads!
Needless to say, we've had a very exciting start to our 2018 Summer Camp with an awesome group of students! We are looking forward to what the rest of the program brings, although we already know there will be a lot of laughs and memories made as the friendships and experiences continue to develop!
